2016 Pine Ridge Treasures' Black and White Blog Hop and Challenge

Hello and Welcome to Pine Ridge Treasures Black and White Blog Hop and Challenge. This event was put on by Lisa Lodge of Pine Ridge Treasures. She is always coming up with awesome challenges for us to help stretch our brains.

I am late posting as we were on vacation and traveling back home. I had thought to post while traveling...but..that didn't happen. So without further ado....enjoy!

We started in Florida and drove to San Diego California to see our daughter and son in law, and to take my daughters cats to her. Plus I had never been that far west so we decided to drive it and enjoy the scenery.

This is what Lisa sent me:

I know it says black and white, but we each got a color to use also.

When we left to come back home on Tuesday, June 21, the first piece I took a picture of was on top of one of the mountains in the Coastal Ranges of California. We were up around 4000 feet.  I really liked the green lichen growth on the rock.

I used the blue, white, silver and black I received and accented it with red bead and black seed beads.  When worn, the little seed bead dangles do hang down.

After crossing into Arizona, we stopped at a Yuma tourist stop to rest and look around. My bug eye earrings, as everyone calls them, made an appearance.

In the gift shop/museum I saw these art works and had to post, they are just awesome!

I posted who the artist was so you could see who made them. I just loved the spark plug sheep!

Tuesday night, we stopped in Deming, NM to spend the night and a little tourist/train museum was there. This gigantic "bead" was outside so I had my son take a picture of me trying to take it. Didn't work....

While traveling on Hwy 70 going to Oklahoma, we passed the White Sands Proving Ground in Alamogordo, NM. I had wanted to get some pictures with my jewelry but it was so hot and we weren't allowed to get on the sand. But it was white! Apparently about 7 to 10 K years ago, it was a lake, and when it dried, it left the white sand. Almost looks like a beach!

In heading to OK to see my husbands brother, we had to pass back over the top of Tx. So I took the following pictures. The left side is Texas, and the right side is New Mexico. So with one shot, my necklace and matching earrings are in two separate states.

Once we reached my brother in laws in Ravia, OK on Thursday the 23rd, I took pictures of all of my pieces on this most awesome tree in his back yard! I wish I could have dug it up and brought home!

Here is the black white silver and blue necklace with both sets of earrings hanging on the tree.

Next is the black, white, silver and red necklace and it's earrings.

I also made an extra pair of earrings that would go with most of the necklaces, but my Aunt in Louisiana snagged them when we stopped there to visit on Sat.

And last, BUT not least, my bug eye earrings using the black pearl beads and the white disk beads I received.

Hopefully you have enjoyed my little trip and pictures of my jewelry. We started in Fl and drove to CA, then to OK, then back through LA, then to FL. 5400 miles and two weeks!

Thanks!!!!!

Fridays Hunt 06/03/2016

It is that time again, not just TGIF, thought most of us agree on that, but it is Friday's hunt put on by Teresa at Eden Hills.

This week is: Starts with W, weeks favorite, and rough...

Since this has been a crazy week for me, with my son graduating from college, I will use the pictures I took there for this weeks hunt.

Starts with W: Since we went in a day early so we wouldn't have to rush getting into Orlando, we had breakfast Friday morning at the Waffle House that was right outside the hotel.

Weeks Favorite: This picture is of my son and his dad sitting and relaxing while we wait for the graduates to get ready to go in and the auditorium to open up.

For rough...it was kinda hard but I have four pictures to show using rough:
At Eola Park in Orlando, this Blue Heron was standing on some rough stone along the lake, and the wood on that tree is rough.

For the next rough...my daughters cats that we are sitting for really lead a rough life..

And last but not least, after walking around Orlando on Thursday and getting to bed late, it was really rough for my son to want to get up on Friday so we could go eat breakfast.

So there you have my submissions for the hunt...for more check out Teresa's page at Eden Hills.

So til next time....

Keep on Clicking...

Friday's Hunt - 05/20/2016

Well it is time again for Friday's Hunt put on by Teresa @ Eden Hills
So Lets Rock!!!

For the first hunt we had to find something started with U. That wasn't easy. The first thought was umbrella since we are having some wet weather at the moment.

Then I thought Under, as in Under the trees: I put a border around them using Picasa.

Next was weeks favorite. And for that I made a collage. They are all plants in my yard, plus the one in the upper right hand corner is a picture of ants coming and going from their hole. And the bottom left one is of a Cardinal that was sitting with his back to me on the fence.

And third is a picture of my daughters cats that we are cat sitting til we take them out next month to her in California. As soon as we get up in the mornings, before we even get a chance to make the bed both cats have taken up their favorite spots on our bed...ever tried to make a bed with cats in it....

That's it for this week. Come back next Friday and I will post more of the Friday Hunt!

2nd Annual Bead Peeps Swap 'n' Hop 2016

It is time for the Bead Peeps reveal! I am a bit late this morning as somehow I caught the flu bug and have been in bed.

Anyway my partner was Kathleen Breeding from Nevada. She is a very, very busy person. She does commission work for Cosplay out there. Sounds exciting but hard work. Her Etsy Shop is https://www.etsy.com/shop/99BOBOTW. Which stand for 99 Bottle of Beer on The Wall.  Her facebook pages are https://www.facebook.com/KraftzKathleen/ and https://www.facebook.com/99BOBOTW/. A little background on her is she has been seed beading for 3 years, working at Michaels for 5 years. She teaches jewelry classes at Michaels. She has been doing craft shows since 2008 and in 2014 she started taking on cosplay accessory commissions. Like I said. A Very Very busy woman.

This is what I sent her:

This is what I received from her:

All kinds of beads and mixed media items.  It was hard to really decide what to make, so many decisions!

I really had a tough time deciding as I was also doing taxes and was swamped. But I really loved the pendant with red, blue and yellow/green beads, And since she had sent me some seed beads in those colors I decided to do a spiral necklace with the pendant hanging.

In between every 5 inches I put in some clear/crystal triangular beads, just to break it up.

Next she had send some coppery super duos and coppery triangular duos so I did up a pair of earrings with them.

Next I wanted to use the pearls she had sent. They were a deep burgundy/brown and some creamy ones also. I loved how they went together color wise. So I went to Beads Magic to look at the free patterns. I found one called Protaras and it used pearls and seed beads. So that is what I made up. I still have to put the clasp on it, but I can't decide what kind to use.

The seed beads I got to go with them make it look so rich!

That is all I got finished, but do have some more ideas:

These are the batches I put together and will get to them soon.  For more goodies check out the Beed Peeps Facebook Page.

Til we meet again,

Keep on Beading.
