Pearls, Pearls, and More Pearls!

Michelle from MiShelDesigns has thrown down the gauntlet for those of us brave enough to accept it. The challenge...PEARLS!  We were to make jewelry (or not) using PEARLS.  We could use other beads also, but I got the feeling she wanted PEARLS, PEARLS, AND MORE PEARLS. So....I went though my stash...and man do I have some PEARLS.  I didn't realize I had so many.  Big ones, little ones, colored ones, and the list goes on.  After days of going back and forth I knew I wanted to do something out of the box and with crochet.  (I have been crocheting for oh....30+ years).  I had found some faux PEARL button covers, so I took off the backs, found a pattern to crochet and then sewed the button covers on the finished piece and then added a few accent PEARLS. I sewed a couple of PEARLS on the edge to fasten it with.  The yarn is silvery white. I also crocheted up a ring with the last button cover.  Around a size 9 - 10...

















Then I decided to do a second more conventional piece using PEARLS and Swarovski crystals.It is a three tiered necklace with matching earrings. It has a PEARL chain closure set so that it can be adjusted. The earrings are just simple dangle.

    I really like the crocheted necklace. What a beautiful use for button covers and a great idea. Lovely!

      Thanks Liz, I really enjoy crocheting and have tons of patterns I want to use...just seems like there isn't enough time in the day....lol.

    Really Vera?! You are blowing me away with these necklaces - holy cow smokes these are awesome! The crocheted ones is stunning. I absolutely love both of these - your talent is amazing. I would like to touch the first one - bet it feels awesome. And the second set would look so sexy with a nice black dress,....I can just picture it!       Thanks Shel...I did enjoy myself...in fact it has given me a new interest in ALL the pearls I have. I am working on a necklace now utilizing some of my pearls. Thanks bunches for this challenge. I hope to have the necklaces up in my etsy store soon.

      Thank you Lynda...I wanted to do something conventional AND different. I have been crocheting for years and have tons of patterns. I may never get them all done, but it is a nice change to use them now and again.

    Wow! What a unique design in the first necklace and ring. I think you are the only ring maker in the entire hop! I am always amazed with bead crochet. It is just something I do not know how to do and would love to learn one day! Both very pretty.
